ASHEBORO, N.C.-A large number of African Violets that have been on display in the North Carolina Zoo's African Pavilion during the month of October will be placed on sale to the public next week.

The sale will take place in the zoo's Stedman Education Center on Tuesday, Nov 3, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Monday, Nov. 9, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. More than 17,000 of the colorful plants were exhibited in the African Pavilion during October. But with the public display over the zoo's Horticulture Division finds itself with more violets than the greenhouses will hold. Prices will range from $1 to $3 for the violets with some hanging baskets also available at $5.

The zoo is an agency of the N.C. Department of Environment & Natural Resources, Dee Freeman, Secretary; Beverly Eaves Perdue, Governor.
